   E' senz'altro una delle canzoni più rappresen-  
   tative dei Tears for Fears facente parte del  
   loro album di debutto The Hurting, edito nel 
   1982.
   Il brano originale è un new wave accelerato, 
   genere molto in voga in quegli anni, con un 
   moderato uso del sintetizzatore. Fu il singolo
   che lanciò il gruppo britannico.
  
     La canzone è stata successivamente oggetto di diverse cover (50 ufficiali), tradotta 
  in diversi idiomi internazionali. 
  Tra i diversi rifacimenti, citiamo quelli dell'artista francese Nicola Sirkis (1992), 
  dell'Italian eurodance Firemaster (1996), degli australiani The red Paintings (2005), 
  della nostrana Elisa (2009), Adam Lambert (2009) e Marco Mengoni 
  (2010).
     La versione più famosa è, però, quella del 2001, dell'americano 
  Gary Jules, che offre un arrangiamento acustico, intimistico.
